We are very delighted that you have shown interest in our website. Data protection is of a particularly high priority for the management of amponline.org. The use of the Internet pages of the amponline.org is possible without any indication of personal data; however, for members of amponline.org wanting to use special pages on our website, some personal data is collected at the time of joining the Association of Music Photographers (AMP). We respect your privacy 100%. In no manner will AMP sell, loan or transfer any members personal information.
Information We Collect
User login accounts
Most sections of the website such as the online store, photo contest registrations, forums, and members-only areas require you to log in in order to participate. Non-members have limited access login accounts are free and easy to set up, though they do not provide access to all parts of the site.
To create a login account, you need to provide the following information:
password you want to use to log in
AMP members must also provide additional information when they join, including address, and some basic professional information.
Purchasing an item from the store requires that you provide us with your billing and shipping address (and of course the information about what you want to purchase). A user login account is required in order to buy anything from the AMP store.
Credit card numbers and expiration dates are taken when you place your order, but the full credit card number is never stored by AMP except temporarily in memory on the server while the order is being processed. All credit card information is transmitted using 128-bit encryption.
We do store the last 4 digits of your credit card number for auditing purposes, but we never record the full number in any permanent medium.
Surveys and Questionnaires
We may ask visitors to our website to complete online surveys and opinion polls on a variety of topics, such as their activities, attitudes, and interests, and our products and services. These surveys help us understand the needs of our visitors.
You may choose to contact us through our website. If you e-mail us comments or questions, we will have your e-mail address, as well as your comment, question, or any other information you choose to provide.
Passive Collection of Information
When you visit our website, your browser automatically sends us certain Internet-related information, such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you’re using, and your browser version.
We also collect certain information about our website visitors, such as how many users visited our site, the date and time of visit to our site, the time spent on the site, the pages viewed, and referring websites. By collecting this information, we learn how to better tailor our website to our visitors. While we examine such information only in the aggregate, such information could potentially be linked back to your individual IP address.
If you are extra-concerned about being tracked, most browsers allow you to block cookies altogether. Remember, though, that cookies are used to keep you logged in, so if you disable all cookies, you will probably not be able to access the members-only content on the AMP website.
How We Use Information We Collect
Aggregate information about visitor statistics is used to detect abuse of our site, to tune our server configuration, to refine navigation links, and to set prices for online advertisers.
Contact information collected through our website is used in connection with the purpose for which it was submitted (for example, to answer a question, or to inform you of upcoming deadlines for a contest for which you have registered).
In addition, we periodically contact our members by email to keep them informed about what is going on in the organization.
We may also use the information we collect to customize our contacts with you and to do other internal analyses, such as market research, that will allow us to better meet the needs of our members.
Some information on the site (such as the Pit Pro Photographer listings) is viewable by any visitor to the site. This follows from the function of these areas: the Pit Pro Photographer service is only useful if prospective clients can in fact find you for the purpose of promoting yourself and your business.
By listing your contact information in one of those areas, you accept that people may contact you as a result.
In addition, contact information for staff members, event organizers, volunteers and committee members are listed on the appropriate pages, so that members and attendees can reach them with questions. Volunteers choose what information they want to have listed.
An additional tier of information is available to any logged-in member of the organization. In all these cases, sharing your information with other members (such as on the member forums) is either your goal in using the service, or a necessary means to achieving that goal.
This information is only shared if you choose to make it available, and is only shared within the context you provided it for.
Event, Contest, and Regional Information
Information about participants in AMP events and photo contests may be provided to the registrar for administrative purposes.
All other information you may provide is considered private and will not be shared, except as required by law.
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information in our possession and control against foreseeable hazards. Please note, however, that perfect security does not exist on the Internet.
Subscription to our Newsletters
On the website amponline.org, users are given the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter. The input mask used for this purpose determines what personal data are transmitted, as well as when the newsletter is ordered from the signup form.
The amponline.org informs its members and business partners regularly by means of a newsletter about specific offers. The Association of Music Photographers (amponline.org) newsletter may only be received by the data subject if (1) the data subject has a valid e-mail address and (2) the data subject registers for the newsletter delivery via email. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address registered by a data subject for the first time for newsletter shipping, for legal reasons, in the double opt-in procedure. This confirmation e-mail is used to prove whether the owner of the e-mail address as the data subject is authorized to receive the newsletter.
During the registration for the newsletter, we also store the IP address of the computer system assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP) and used by the data subject at the time of the registration, as well as the date and time of the registration. The collection of this data is necessary in order to understand the (possible) misuse of the e-mail address of a data subject at a later date, and it therefore serves the aim of the legal protection of the controller.
The personal data collected as part of a registration for the newsletter will only be used to send our newsletter. In addition, subscribers to the newsletter may be informed by e-mail, as long as this is necessary for the operation of the newsletter service or a registration in question, as this could be the case in the event of modifications to the newsletter offer, or in the event of a change in technical circumstances. There will be no transfer of personal data collected by the newsletter service to third parties. The subscription to our newsletter may be terminated by the data subject at any time. The consent to the storage of personal data, which the data subject has given for shipping the newsletter, may be revoked at any time. For the purpose of revocation of consent, a corresponding link is found in each newsletter. It is also possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time directly on the website of the controller, or to communicate this to the controller in a different way.
Information about non-members is not shared with third parties, except in the case of contact information provided as part of a job listing.
Association of Music Photographers (AMP) members can choose to participate in various programs which involve sharing some information about them.
- listing their contact information in the Pit Pro Photographer Directory
- signing up as Mentors for the Mentorship program
- volunteering as an Event or Committee Chair, or being elected to an AMP office
- Members can also choose to receive mailings from third parties with offers for AMP members, or opt out of such mailings.
In all cases, members have the option of not participating in these activities, and thus not listing that information. Members who do participate can choose what information appears.
