About the Association of Music Photographers

The Association of Music Photographers was created to serve a group of specialized music photographers from across the United States. The group started as a result of the need to establish an organization that adheres to best practices in business, encourages proper etiquette, techniques and professional development in the field of music photography.

The idea of creating the association resulted in the need to help aspiring music photographers learn the necessary skills that it takes to excel in the world of music photography. To create a place to enhance their businesses and create friendships and contacts within the music industry. As the profession continues to evolve, media photographers have to differentiate themselves from other types of photo journalists. Learn from the experts about contacts, how to get photo passes and establish a good relationship with clients. Joining AMP gives photographers of all skill levels a chance to interact with the top professionals in the field.

Annual meetings, learning conferences and educational training are all a part of what we do. Our monthly photo contest showcases the work of our members and we serve as an advocate to help protect the creative rights of photographers. Become a certified member sets photographers apart than simply buying a camera and calling themselves professionals.

Whether its studio work or live concert photography, we abridge the gap between publicists, musicians and record companies that contract certified professional music photographers. One of the best things a photographer can do is becoming certified which proves their ability to capture professional quality images.

In the last two years with the help and support of our member photographers, AMP has become the leading independent music photographers association in the world.
